Lead Installation Technician

Reports To: Manager of Integration & Engineering

Status: Non Exempt

Summary:

Under the direction of the Field Manager, the Lead AV Technician shall be the primary field contact for corporate, educational, gaming, sports, and broadcast clients. In addition to performing installation duties, he or she shall be the point person in the field for crew delegation, client communication, installation standards, configuration and training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Efficiently pull, terminate, label, and test cabling between audio, video, data, and control equipment.
  • Correctly and safely mount, test and calibrate equipment including projectors, screens, monitors, cameras and speakers.
  • Correctly configure and set up equipment per spec or drawings.
  • Delegate tasks as appropriate to other technicians on a specific job.
  • Proactively identify areas of concern in a system design related to equipment integration and end-user functionality needs.
  • Communicate with the client, project manager, salesperson, and engineer with status updates, issues, and suggestions, attending job progress meetings as necessary.
  • Compile system check out testing paperwork, and perform system tests to verify proper functionality.
  • Perform training on system operation for clients. Train and mentor other technicians on equipment wiring and operation.
  • Work with subcontractors and/or third parties as necessary.
  • Identify integration inefficiencies and propose solutions.
  • Some programming of equipment and systems.
  • Other duties may be assigned
Job Requirements:
  • 2-5 years  AV experience
  • Up to 75% travel, sometimes on a last-minute basis.
  • Occasional night and evening work.
  • Must be able to climb ladders up to 20’ tall and lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in small spaces and on uneven surfaces.
  • Must maintain CTS and PLT certification

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of video, audio, and control connectors and cabling
  • Ability to solder
  • Ability to read schematic drawings
  • Solid knowledge of programming systems and interfaces and equipment configuration.
  • Solid logistical and analytical skills
  • Excellent understanding of analog and digital audio and video signals, control protocols and systems, computer networking and proper wiring and termination techniques
  • Ability to read CAD documents
  • Ability to program a variety of different processor/controller type systems including audio, video, and CCTV.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.  Two year technical degree in low voltage electronics and/or networking or related work experience preferred.

Certificates and Licenses:
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must maintain CTS and PLT certifications.
