Coushatta Casino Resort wanted to introduce their guests to the fun and excitement of a true Las Vegas-style sportsbook. The new sportsbook would not only allow their guests to bet on their favorite teams, but it would also allow them to enjoy watching games on a giant LED video wall or one of the many screens throughout the venue. Coushatta's management and marketing teams have always been state-wide leaders in implementing new casino technology. Offering a sportsbook venue was another way to use the latest audiovisual technology to expand their appeal to current and new guests alike.
Besides the new sportsbook, it was important for Coushatta that their existing investment in digital signage and IPTV was upgraded to offer the best possible guest experience. Key to that effort was upgrading their overall system while still utilizing a large portion of their existing hardware. The upgrade allowed Coushatta to take advantage of several new features, including a floor-wide jackpot celebration system and new table game digital signage.
I am delighted to introduce our stunning newest gaming venue, The Rez Sportsbook,” said Jonathan Cernek, Chairman, Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana. “Every sports fan knows that watching a game you love while betting on the outcome is a special kind of thrill. Well, we’ve implemented state-of-the-art touchscreen technology to make thousands of betting opportunities available. The Rez is destined to be the new ‘hot spot’ for sports-minded guests to gather with friends and follow their favorite team––especially when that team is winning!
Having mixed various solutions over the years, the overall digital signage and audiovisual systems had become outdated and difficult to maintain. Old software, complicated user controls, and disparate technology required more and more employee time to operate and reduced the system's overall guest appeal. The need for one system to manage the casino floor, sportsbook, and back-of-house content was critical. Displaying odds board content in multiple locations throughout the venue was also important.
With extensive experience in deploying digital signage and audiovisual systems in hundreds of casinos worldwide, Alpha Video was uniquely suited to help Coushatta overcome its challenges and meet its goals. Alpha Video consulted with Coushatta and made recommendations on where their digital signage could be most effective and how to bring a sportsbook to life with LED video walls, real-time sports ticker feeds, and odds boards display placement. The casino-wide, holistic approach that Alpha Video brought to upgrading their digital signage and audiovisual systems offered not only better guest engagement but made it easier for employees to use.
The upgrade started with an entire refresh of the casino's digital signage and IPTV system to a state-of-the-art integrated solution. The new system featured an easy-to-use web browser interface to manage content on every screen in the casino from almost any laptop or tablet. With the benefit of an IPTV system, any number of casino screens can display promotional content and guest information and then switch to live satellite TV channels to show the big game or event. The upgraded digital signage software also included Alpha Video's own software module for displaying floor-wide jackpot celebrations to spread the feeling of luck and winning.
The next step in the upgrade was to introduce new table game signage to the gaming floor. The table game signage provided by Alpha Video is unique in the industry. It not only displays the branded table game name and min/max bets, but it also allows for promotional content to run in a continuous loop when the table is open or closed. Most importantly, all the table game signage is easily controlled from a tablet PC. With the new system, a Pit Boss can securely log in and then update open/closed status, game name, and mix/max bets for one, some, or all the table game displays with just a few clicks.
The interactive odds board signage will allow players to view up to 12 consolidated odds boards feeds on one individual touchscreen device. Rather than waiting for odds to scroll across the odds boards displays behind the retail center, guests can now select what they are interested in and go directly to a full-screen display with the latest statistics. Coushatta is looking at adding additional touchscreen kiosks that feature Alpha Video's Digital Concierge software module. Digital Concierge kiosks provide options for interactive game and property wayfinding as well as restaurant, event, hotel, and promotional information.
The highlight of the upgrade was the newly integrated Coushatta sportsbook space featuring a bright, high-resolution Planar video wall. The 30 ft, 1.5mm LED video wall can create up to 12 separate zones to display live or simulated games. Along with the video wall, Alpha Video integrated a custom sports ticker display with multiple feeds to provide real-time updates to guests as they watch their favorite games. The addition of a 70-inch curved sports ticker to the overhead soffit outside the venue made a visual impact across the entire casino floor.
Managing sportsbook screen content and its associated audio is typically a complex challenge for casino staff. Alpha Video recognized the need for simplicity and designed a unique, low-cost control system that allowed employees to quickly switch content, control audio, and even power on or off every screen in the sportsbook with one button.
Coushatta made good on their reputation of bringing new casino technology to Louisiana, and Alpha Video was proud to help integrate the entire audiovisual experience. To complete the experience, Alpha Video even provided professionally designed, custom branded digital signage content from Alpha Video's in-house creative services team.
My staff and I found it very easy to work alongside Alpha Video during this upgrade,” said Warren Davidson, Director of Slots. “Their solutions made good sense, both logistically and fiscally. We are certainly pleased with the ease of operation and end result. With these improvements, our new sportsbook venue will impress our guests, with the bonus that our entire property functions more smoothly.
